Mumbai killing

Vishwa Hindu Parishad (World Council of Hindus) – UK

Statement

Today India experienced another major human disaster – a series of bomb explosions causing massive loss of life and limb.

The first explosions set off in Kashmir targeted tourists, and Hindus on pilgrimage to the Holy Amarnath shrine. Shortly thereafter, several bombs were exploded in various trains in Mumbai killing and maiming hundreds of innocent men, women and children.

Although the Government of India has not yet announced the name of the organisation(s) responsible for this carnage, it is clear that this dastardly action is the work of terrorists, their minds crazed by religious fundamentalism.

On behalf of the Hindu community in the United Kingdom, we extend our heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the bereaved and affected families. We ask the Government of India to take all measures in order to ensure the safety of her citizens, and to bring to justice those responsible for these massacres.

We are happy to note that Prime Minister Blair has unequivocally condemned these acts of terrorism and extended British Government’s support and cooperation to the Government of India in fighting the scourge of terrorism.
