Use of the term ‘Pooja’

Pooja means worship, and as such has a religious connotation.

This term is applied by Hindus wherever and whenever there  is any religious worship / sacrament taking place and also as  a prefix or suffix to specify a material which is for worship-purpose or to specify the worship of a particular deity.

Whereas religious terms, names or words have been, and are,  used by Hindus for naming individuals or businesses, it is understood these would not be used in a manner that would denigrate or vilify Hindu faith and tradition.
We earnestly appeal to the relevant authorities that no religious term or name should be registered as a trademark, to be exclusively owned by the registrant, as such exclusive
right can tread upon, and also offend, long established and deeply rooted religious and cultural traditions and practices.
